In Europe, Sun, Travel Inspiration by KirstiLeave a Comment

Puerto Santiago, Tenerife, In The Spanish Canary Islands

Puerto Santiago, Tenerife

Looking for some half term sun? In a recent post I shared two fabulous family accommodations in the Canary Islands, ideal for October half term breaks. This week I have two more that are both ideally situated, have great facilities and plenty of activities on offer. Voted in the top 20 of the most enticing islands in premium travel magazine Conde Nast, it’s not hard to see why the Canary Islands are so popular. This week’s properties are located on the largest of the Canary Islands – Tenerife.

With many appealing aspects, Tenerife attracts a variety of holidaymakers: some enjoy discovering picturesque villages, experiencing the traditional Canarian lifestyle, while others head into the mountains to hike or cycle the trails, taking in stunning landscapes and spectacular coastal views.

Teide National Park is a UNESCO world heritage park, which not only houses the highest mountain in Spain, but the largest volcano in Europe. For an exhilarating day out, take the cable car that travels to the top; it’s not for the faint of heart but is certainly a thrilling ride! For golf enthusiasts, Tenerife is also a dream come true: with premium courses and a year-round mild and sunny climate, the phrase “fair weather golfer” isn’t too good to be true! With great beaches, theme parks, historical and geological sites, Tenerife truly offers something for everyone; and you can be as active or relaxed as you like.

Only a short stroll away are a selection of restaurants, shops and bars.
The apartment has an open-plan living area with modern kitchen, dining area and comfortable sofas, and there are a selection of books, a TV, CD player and stereo. The bedroom has two single beds and a sofa bed/futon that sleeps two, as well as plenty of storage with a double wardrobe and small dresser. There is also a second wardrobe in the hallway, if you need it. The fully tiled bathroom is modern and spacious with a walk-in shower, and its large bathroom cabinet provides plenty of space for storing all those holiday toiletries. Patio doors take you out onto the balcony, where you’ll be met with great pool views and a table and chairs; perfect for watching the sunset during supper.

Costa Adeje is the perfect destination for a family holiday. It’s an upmarket area with good restaurants and facilities and there are several good beaches: Playa del Duque is renowned as one of the best in Tenerife. There are a variety of watersports on offer, with tuition available if you want to try your hand at something new, but more family fun can be had back on shore at one of the nearby theme parks: Aqualand and Siam Park guarantee fun and thrills for all ages. Shopaholics won’t be disappointed with a visit to the Gran Sur shopping centre, which boasts a number of boutiques to please even the most discerning of shoppers.

A popular region for golf, this is also home to the Championship golf course Golf Costa Adeje: you can play the 18-hole course, but for a shorter game there’s a nine-hole too.
